Computers
December 4, 2007
Well, Chris and I finally tried to do it last night.
Omigod no!!!! HAHAHA!!!! Not that kind of DOING IT YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 HAHA!
We tried to watch the Django movie on Youtube.com! But we couldn’t finish it. And I’m sorry to say it was all my fault. This is sort of how the whole thing went:
M: Wait. So Django is like a language?
C: It’s like…Okay, what’s something you can make?
M: A shirt? Like you can make a shirt with a sewing machine?
C: Right! Well, Django’s like the sewing machine.
M: And without Django, it’s like you’re sewing by hand?
C: Yeah.
C: Sort of.
M: So it must be written in a language, though, right? What language is it written in??
C: It’s. It’s written in Python.
M: But what about Python?? Python must be written in a language!! What is PYTHON written in?
C: That’s complicated.
M: So it’s all just recursive? They’re all just written in the previous language all the way back to what? Like binary code???
C: In a way. I mean, yeah. Everything is binary code.
M: OK.
M: I guess.
<<Resume watching.>>
M: Wait but like, how do they make computers?
C: What do you mean?
M: I mean how can computers be made just from zeros and ones? Human beings are so amazing!!!
C: You can make a computer from anything. You can make a computer from water.
M: WOW?
C: Should we watch this video on how to make a computer from scratch?
M: Yes!
<<New video.>>
M: But they’re not making it from scratch!! They’re still using another computer to make a computer!!
C: They’re students!
M: I don’t get it.
M: Where do computers come from.
C: Let’s stop watching.
And that’s where it ended.
Chris, in his defense, went online to read about the first ever computer. But by the time he started to give me the answer, I was all peaceful from him patting my head and I just kept shushing him.
I think I’m stupid.
Love, Malli
